OCS 2007 R2 front end services stop unexpectedly

My front end services will not start. MOC clients could not log in. I noticed some MS updates over the weekend had taken place. I tried restarting the front end service, then the server but still no luck.

Had to un-install a new update that auto installed kb/974571
