ECC EMail Queue

Worked with Shoretel support today to setup using the email queue option in ECC. We got it working but have a few questions, hopefully someone has found answers too. First we had to enable Mail Relay on our Mail server to get mail routing correctly. This doesn't seem right to have Mail Relay running, since it is a security risk. Does anyone know of a way to do this without having mail relay enabled.
Second we have a dynamic A/D group for all our users, since we created an account to use for email it automatically got added to this group. Now the client gets emails sent to this group instead of just the email group we created. Any suggestions on work arounds for this would be appreciated. Running Shoretel 12.2 and ECC 7. Thank You.

We figured out the second part with the A/D group. Still need to know if Open Mail Routing has to be turned on for this to work.
