Trying to add call notes to canned Crystal reports

Has anyone been able to add the Call Notes to any of the canned Crystal reports? We are using this as a way to track service calls by type but can't seem to add the field into crystal.
Would we use an ODBC connector or MySQL. What would the default user name and password be to access the database.
