DTMF Tones not recognized during call back request

I have a customer that has been using scheduled call backs for some time now. Here recently they have started getting complaints that when they dial their number to request the call back the system does not hear the DTMF tones.

They have a call recorder recording all calls. You can hear the caller enter their digits multiple times until the system times out and hangs up due to "no entry". This is intermittent and does not happen to all callers, I have not found any cause or common characteristic between callers that would link them together. Any ideas??

Have you increased the gain on the PRI?

Yes and this breaks the fax server if it is increased...
